dog in ditch

here's our dog bathing in the ditch; he's in luv' and this manifests itself in several ways: there's a lot of panting involved, he's restless and he keeps getting up and walking to the door, wanting to go out...or maybe not; once he has decided he needs to be outdoors, he'll plant himself in the grass facing the gate waiting for the dame-in-question to pass by, he rolls around in the mud a lot more than usual, he doesn't want to eat and then becomes ravenous and slobbers his food too quickly once he does finally eat, resulting in feeling sick and throwing up.......he wanders back and forth aimlessly and when we do go out for a walk together his nose his glued to the ground and off he trots, spit drooling from his mouth, oh he is a pretty sight to behold. This lasts for as long as the hormones are racing and stops just as suddenly as it started, I'm amazed each time it happens and feel for him in his state of unrequited love, at times like these he truly lives a dog's life*

*Dutch expression 'een hondenleven' meaning: a wretched life or existence

If there is a photo there, I can't see it...but I don't need to as you paint such a picture of your poor doggie!!! Sounds very much like how humans act! HA

I've never known a dog who doesn't wolf down anything food-related at the drop of a hat. He's clearly a very discerning gentleman!
