more white

I don't know if it's because of the snow, but white is taking over

snow at last!

our little house has become a fairytale image, the garden is white and green with shades of brown.  Snow softens the world outside and the white blanket hides all the rubbish and mess for a while. Wood is stacked on the verandah, the woodburner's warmth comforts us after a walk with the dog in the crisp, cold air, life seems kind this evening.

dragons for Jude

collaboration with the boys

well here are a couple of dragons for you Jude, the bottom one is the original Jack, damaged a little by water I'm afraid; he is a Friendly Dragon, i.e. friendly towards us his adopted family, but of course there to protect us if someone/-thing wanted to harm us!
As I was searching for the drawings, I suddenly remembered I'd made the boys a cape each, they were flying all over the place.......

Here the stitching and painting are coming together at last

have just come back from a refreshing  evening stroll with the dog in the 'uiterwaarden', the area alongside a river, that at times can become flooded. We chased away a couple of geese and ducks, or rather the dog did, I found this feather and stuck it under sticky-tape, a poem by Bert Schierbeek

A pound of feathers won't fly without a bird in it.

is there anybody out there?

Up until now there's been one virtual comment, I'am glad to say that people in the real world have commented (positively) so I realise there are readers out there! Thank you All.
Should it matter? I suppose not, we are basically alone; I spend a lot of my time alone, however do not feel lonely most of the time. Felt the urge to share this.

As Samuel Beckett wrote, there are a few certainties in life: we are born, we live and die and for reasons unknown to oneself cannot keep silent.
had an enjoyable walk this morning with Tungsten, he's now snoring next to the fire in my studio.

cup of tea with a message

I found an old piece of embroidered linnen I made ca. 20 years ago with  a special needle I bought in Nepal. My husband (then boyfriend) and I travelled there in october/november 1992, a year after we met eachother.
An important step on the path we chose to travel together.
There are some stains on the linnen, and I never finished it, however I like it as it is. The so-called backside has the flat stitches and the frontside has a fluffy, carpetlike feel; thanks to the special needles.

hog office doodle

and this afternoon in the office as I sat doodling, the hog came back as did yesterday's sun

last november I gave a t-shirt decorating workshop and  felt I had to have a couple of examples for my 'students'. I used animals from ready-made stencils and designed the hedgehog and beanstalk.
