trying not to panic

this is 'drowning heart' a little something I made to keep me sane and stop me from freaking out 'cos the exhibit-date is upon me (oct 14)

coffee mug, amazing sculptures

view from Gorcums Museum of church
objects by Vera Galis in the museum
on the left the wire hanging sculpture, on the right the shadows on the wall

these two pics show just how quickly the skies change, above was taken at 10:20 am and below at appr.10:45 am

Tungsten waiting patiently whilst I gather walnuts; after the heavy rainfall last night many more have  dropped out of the trees, the shapes and sizes vary from tree to tree.

bucket with walnut-dye, started a few days ago with appr. 3 litres of boiling water, three bits of fabric have been submerged since wednesday, the two white bits sticking out are white linen/cotton mix, one wrapped around a copper pipe and the other wrapped around banana-peels, will see what happens....

same spot, evening sky

september 26

sky today

found this on the street, does anyone have any idea what it is?

I have two new not yet finished pieces, I call this one 'hidden (soul)'

this one doesn't have a title, it started as the backing for another piece, but I liked it so much it became independent, maybe I could call it 'back to front'

world peace in a day

world peace day

today's world peace day, Jeremy Gilley (Southampton 1969) initiated the idea. I don't think I had heard about this before and this morning I read an article in yesterday's newspaper about this particular day. There are 37 conflicts in the world as I type my post and I could despair about my lack of influence on the world's grand stage; however, I also read about how conflict isn't just about wars 'far away' but more often than not people, especially children suffer at home from violence, they are threatened by a hand not a gun..........So close to home: I can make a difference, a kind word, no (verbal) abuse, hopefully set an example of how we can live with others and accept they are different and want different things. I have baked an apple pie for the boys and when they come home after school it'll be a sweet and tender reminder of home as a sanctuary, a place we can all rest and feel safe.

dog & other figures

almost done, I'm calling it  'four forlorn figures in a landscape with oblong sun'

several stories

a lot more sun today, weather feels soft
in the background you can see the dike; I am walking back from the river towards our house and the pumping station

the grasses - or any other debris - floating on the water in the canals (vliet) is collected and grabbed by huge hooks, the water is then pumped underneath the dike into the river as seen on top photo

angel is almost finished, I still have to figure out the hanging , note the lace Dee!
