black shadows on white

yesterday Django experienced snow for the first time in his life, his response to the white fluffy stuff was to race around in circles and then taste it (Tungsten used to do the latter as well)
Skies were grey with all the snow, which continued to fall overnight.....
.....so this morning we woke up to an even whiter, brighter world, including blue skies and shining sun; it was as if nature was calling out to us: get up, rise out of bed and go for a walk - here are Django and the husband in the 'uiterwaarden' along the river Linge, just on the other side of our dike

Here it is cold and grey ... so I am closing my eyes and imagining the smell of new fallen snow, the crunching sound it makes with a bit of panting dog in the background, and the most perfect blue.
Yes, thank you ...

So much fun for them with their fur coats! We are not really cold here, but cooled down for us. Love the long shadows and the way you casually say "our dike".

Breathing in the photo of Django's sheer joy of frolicking in the snow is such a tonic. Thinking of all of the creative magic that you shared over this year Saskia, both in cloth, in your tales of your extended "family", in your book recommendations, in your travels: coming here has been and continues to be a gift, and one that I hope to continue for many more years to come.

I covet your dog! Dear Saskia, what a joy it is knowing you here, and on FB. I'ts early morning of the eve of the new year and I'm sending this traditional sung by Dougie MacLean - "Auld Lang Syne" written by Robert Burns in 1788 is set to the tune of a traditional folk song.
