film
last sunday I went with a group of friends to the IFFR International Film Festival Rotterdam; we've been going there for a couple of years now. Interesting, thought provoking, non-mainstream films.
This year we managed 4: we started with Wasteland* by Rowan Athale (intelligent fun and then some), followed by The Patience Stone by Atiq Rahimi (tragic soul searching), third in line Oh Boy* by Jan Ole Gerster (a coming of age film in sunny black&white) and finally Io e te* by Bernardo Bertolucci (again,a coming of age film in a cellar!). English, Afghan, German and Italian 4 languages and cultures in a day. It was wonderful. Afterwards we went for a meal in restaurant the Bazar; I came home around 23:30 and had to get up early the next day, but wasn't tired, I felt energized after all these stories and shared experience with friends.
it's really nice to do something different every so often
