coins become moons


weaving attempts in Jude's class, inserting triangles into the woven fabric, it has found a spot in the Tree Room in the Project, the beings are happier with the result than I am (they are kind)
the tiny grass mat below (in the Bathroom) was woven a while back, I do like that one and want to make more with grasses and the like

....drawing lines and having to think about which one goes over and which one goes under; thinking how the printed pattern mixes with the actual stitching, how raw linen combines with gessoed linen, soft and hard, black&white, over....under, warp&weft..........
how weaving is now settling in the mind, is becoming a way of looking at all that surrounds me

hi Mo, thanks; the pattern, a lino-print is one of my favourites, not that I have many to choose from, but it has turned out to be very versatile and can feel different depending on what fabric is used and which colours are involved

Something about cloths, especially solar dyed cloths, dancing in the wind that just goes right into my bloodstream...I would wrap them all around me and become the gypsy of the dye jars, dancing in and out among the trees and grasses...that is the power of your dyed cloths Saskia! And the coin/moon cloth, well fitting payment for a gypsy dancer...

Saskia~ I really like the differing strengths of those moons. Your tree line! Wow! Tree lines always call to me for some reason. I am impressed with your first triangles. I haven't tried that yet. And your mat/print/weave...wonderful. I agree, that is a favorite print of yours for me too :)

Marti-solar-dye-gypsy, thank you, your comments - and this one is no exception- are always encouraging and loving! these words of yours really hit my spot-of-neediness......yes, I too need lots of affirmation! I will let the cloths just hang and dance and only take them off when I want to use them, their presence on the verandah is reassuring and even if they probably will lose colour, so be it

hi Nancy, this coin clamp resist is one of my favourite dyeing techniques, maybe most favoured! the crispness of the circle and the surprise when unfolding the cloth, always accompanied by a tiny thrill of excitement. The triangles are kind of a cheat, as I pushed them into the weave....

well Grace, the blue/black is a result of avocado pits, tin can, an acorn dropped in for good measure, weeks of patient solar-dying and bits of rusty iron, magic really;-)
