living in the moment whilst busy making plans

wild blue chicory

Summer garden
very dry with patches of yellow, some plants tolerate heat and drought really well: the different types of clover f.e. & several indigenous wild plants
it's all sort of unruly but I think I'm  okay with how it's evolving

I must take notes about where NOT to sow certain plants next year, and decide on where to have 'proper' flowerbeds with perennials
also want more mown paths.....
a lot of dreaming

A new desk, designed by friend N. who together with his girlfriend J. recently moved to a smaller dwelling (we fondly refer to it as their Tiny House)where there's absolutely no room for it. Lucky me;-)
Yay, a place where I can sit and work on the laptop, do the cross-words, or even some painting. I do need a better chair though, I'm considering one of those bouncy ball things....does anyone out there wish to comment on their experience of said ball?

The repositioning has opened up more space on worktop and in front of The Dwelling:

I'm delighted with the way everything fits in now and how I'm able to move through my space. Have recently discovered World of Books website, loads of second-hand English language books from all over! One disadvantage of living in the Dutch countryside is the lack of bookshops selling English (or any foreign language) books (local libraries same problem). Which is why I buy so many when traveling and have at times had to resort to ordering via Amazon. I try and avoid the latter as much as possible.
'Faces; Profiles of Dogs' by Vita Sackville-West is one of the first to arrive from France. Looking forward to many more.

just the ONE sweetpea Lathyrus , glorious colour and scent

spotted several Wild Carrots Daucus Carota, success after years of trying.....and the Flax Linum usitatissimum looks ripe for harvest

A traditional hazelwood gardengate, bought at a yard sale this afternoon and installed as soon as I came back home, am chuffed to bits, what I like best is how it looks as though it's always been here. My first sunflower-from-seed in our garden ever, or if there have been others I've forgotten. There are several in the same bed, but I must admit they are in the wrong spot, I've had to water them daily these past two weeks. The tall purple clover, Californian poppies and cornflowers by contrast all thrive in that same bed. An important lesson learned this year in the garden: take note of what grows where and how well it's doing, or not. I find myself toying with all sorts of ideas for next year's garden. Most of all though I'm enjoying our plot of earth more than ever before.
