give-away

nothing changes like the weather this winter, above is yesterday's blue sky, to the left is today's grey..... the woodburner is glowing orange, radiating heat and welcoming me into the studio
I finally collected the exhibition's work from debankvannoppes this rainy morning and here are a few parcels ready to be sent on their way, to their new owners!

now the studio is full once more and I'm trying to get things organized; this isn't going really well at all, I feel inundated to be honest, but I know the muddied waters will settle eventually. Instead of tidying I am experimenting with printing on paper and did a small weave, as seen above with left-over strips, I am surprised at how well it holds, there's no glue involved; this is of course something that can and will most likely be done in cloth as well

I am relieved a lot will soon be leaving...more space to breathe and work; I have observed which pieces sold well, most or perhaps all were the ones with a story, or where the title suggested one; something to think about in future although I am not sure where I am heading......I want to continue work on some of these pieces as further exploration is called for, especially the largest one needs more details....anyway that is how I feel now.

finally, a few weeks ago I announced a give away and today at last I am happy to announce that this piece 'woven connections' is up for anyone who leaves a comment on this post (which could also just be your name) this coming week; I will pull a name from my hat next friday February 14, 2014 hey that's Valentine's day so a token of my love and gratitude to all of you who visit and support me, keeping me sane and going!

p.s. if you are unable to leave a comment and would like to be added to the draw, you can send an email to: saskiavanherwaarden@gmail.com

Printing, weaving, paper, cloth!
It's all so very wonderful Saskia!
I would be honored to own this woven piece...especially as it is the one that inspired me to pull out a long ago started, similarly idea piece of my own and get to work on it. It's now called "the cloth", you've met parts of it already! I guess I never told you how inspired I was by this piece. I should have done that. Those things are nice to know :) Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Saskia how could I not comment, and be given the chance to own a piece of your gorgeous work! Was sorry to have missed the opportunity to see the work as it was exhibited; time's passed so quickly for you to have all the work returned. Best wishes to whoever becomes the happy owner of this piece. X

Saskia, I've been away from the internet for a few days so catching up today. How terrific and generous to see that you have chosen "Woven Connections" for your giveaway...it hold true meaning because when we come here, the connection holds as we share life threads, "weaving" from all over this planet. It would be wonderful to hold this cloth in my hands, a cloth made by your hands... Thank you for the opportunity.

can't wait to see the piece I bought!! I have found that fiber arts enthusiasts seem to warm to a story too... I tell myself that a piece should speak for itself and have been surprised at how often someone wants to hear what was in my mind while making...
just to say, it was my favorite and
i will be so happy for whoever
is LUCKY.
