a young dead robin, weighs appr. 15 grams for some reason I cannot leave a dead animal behind when I see them on my walks, maybe it's because I don't like the idea of dyeing alone, or would not like being left alone like that, abandoned.
we do eat meat and fish and I wear leather shoes, I kill mosquitoes and wasps, no second thoughts, but when confronted with a small dead bird or mouse, you know it makes me go soft inside... |

I do that too. Often we come across a deer skeleton in the woods. I will make a little shrine with twigs or stones.
hi Heather: a story with a happy ending:
the other day I found a tiny toad floating in the dog's outdoor waterbowl, I thought it was dead, but when I tipped the bowl to pour out the water it swam out and sat itself in the sun to dry off, a couple of minutes later it had disappeared into the bushes, I was so relieved!!
i think they speak to us without words...speak to our deepest selves about What It All Is
it is indeed a feeling beyond words, the sense of being part of Everything
I understand the impulse to honor these little dead creatures... your photo alone is so tender and beautiful!
thank you Dee, a little tenderness goes a long way......
...although the rats were not quite as sentimental, rather they viewed it as dinner, so the bird has truly disappeared.....
